Advertising Policy

This Advertising Policy must be read in conjunction with our Terms and Conditions and that all policy documents are to be read as a group of documents and not separately as individual documents.

Healthcoza (Pty) Ltd accepts advertising on the Healthcoza (Pty) Ltd Network from third parties (“Advertisers”), which may include third party banners, badges, contextual advertising and content created or provided by an Advertiser

All ads are subject to our review and approval. We reserve the right to reject or remove any ad in our sole discretion for any reason. We also reserve the right to request modifications to any ad, and to require factual substantiation for any claim made in an ad.

  1. Guidelines
  • The guidelines in this policy governs Advertisements by both third parties and Health.co.za.
  • Advertisements are displayed and/or removed from the Health.co.za network.
  • Healthcoza (Pty) Ltd has sole and absolute discretion with respect to interpretation and enforcement of this policy and all other issues associated with Advertising on the Healthcoza (Pty) Ltd Network. Healthcoza (Pty) Ltd may change this policy at any time in its sole discretion by posting a revised policy to the applicable Healthcoza (Pty) Ltd Property.
  • Healthcoza (Pty) Ltd has sole discretion for determining the types of Advertising that will be accepted and displayed on the Healthcoza (Pty) Ltd Network, and under no circumstances will Healthcoza (Pty) Ltd’s acceptance of any Advertisement be considered an endorsement of the product(s) and/or service(s) advertised or for the company that advertises, manufactures, distributes, or promotes the products or services.
  • Healthcoza (Pty) Ltd will not knowingly accept Advertising that, in Healthcoza (Pty) Ltd’s opinion, is not factually accurate and in good taste.
  • There are certain categories of Advertisements that Healthcoza (Pty) Ltd will not knowingly permit on the Healthcoza (Pty) Ltd Network at any time. These categories include but are not limited to the following: Ads for the following products and services are prohibited:
    • Adult services
    • Products or services that bypass copyright protection, such as software or cable signal descramblers;
    • Products or services principally dedicated to selling counterfeit goods;
    • Get-rich-quick or pyramid schemes or offers or any other deceptive or fraudulent offers;
    • Illegal or recreational drugs or drug paraphernalia;
    • Counterfeit, fake or bootleg products, or replicas or imitations of designer products;
    • Any illegal conduct, product, or enterprise.
  • Healthcoza (Pty) Ltd recognizes and maintains a distinct separation between Advertising and Healthcoza (Pty) Ltd’s editorial content.
  • All Advertising on the Healthcoza (Pty) Ltd Network will be clearly and unambiguously identified.
  • A click on an Advertisement may only link the end user to the Advertiser’s site or to relevant sponsored content area on a Healthcoza (Pty) Ltd Property.
  • Healthcoza (Pty) Ltd retains the exclusive right to determine how any and all search results for specific information by keyword or topic are displayed on a Healthcoza (Pty) Ltd Property based on Healthcoza (Pty) Ltd delivered search results.
  • Healthcoza (Pty) Ltd reserves the right to decide at any time in its sole discretion whether it will accept, reject, cancel, or remove Advertising from the Healthcoza (Pty) Ltd Network. Healthcoza (Pty) Ltd cannot provide any assurances that Advertisements will perform without error on all platforms, including websites and mobile applications.
  • It is the Advertiser’s responsibility to comply with all domestic and foreign laws and regulations applicable to its Advertising within the Healthcoza (Pty) Ltd Network.
  • No Advertising on the Healthcoza (Pty) Ltd Network shall include any pixels, tags, flash containers or any other type of information collection software code (any such pixel, tag, code or device a “Pixel”) or shall place any beacons, cookies or other information collection devices on the browsers of users of the Healthcoza (Pty) Ltd Network unless expressly approved in writing by Healthcoza (Pty) Ltd.
  • Advertiser will not update any existing profile or create any profile in its database based on any data collected on the Healthcoza (Pty) Ltd site.

2. Placement sizes and technical specifications

  • Placement sizes adhere to an industry standard size and may change from time to time.
  • Flash and animated GIFs are permitted but animations may only loop a maximum of two times.
  • Healthcoza (Pty) Ltd also wishes to ensure that flash advertising and some other rich media forms are sufficiently accessible.
  • Excessive animation or fast moving or difficult to read text is therefore to be avoided and any advertisements which would clearly cause either irritation to fully sighted visitors or difficulties to partially sighted visitors will not be permitted.
  • In addition, rapidly changing or strobing animation or ‘flashing’ images are not to be used for advertising as strobing artificial light may trigger seizures for people prone to photosensitive epilepsy.
  • The unit, size and border requirements are as specified in the table below.

3. Specifications

  • Online ready graphics should be supplied in the correct size – 728 pixels wide by 90 pixels high. These should be supplied in either, JPG, GIF or PNG formats.
  • File size should be no more than 80kb and any text should be clear and legible.
  • When supplying the file, please also confirm the target page – the page to which the visitor is taken when clicking on the advert.
  • Your advert will appear on rotation with other adverts on the website.

  • File size should be no more than 80kb and any text should be clear and legible.
  • When supplying the file, please also confirm the target page – the page to which the visitor is taken when clicking on the advert.
  • Your advert will appear on rotation with other adverts on the website.

4. Ad Display & Quality

  • All ads must be of the highest quality and meet the highest editorial standards.
  • We may, in our sole discretion, choose to apply an “AD,” or “Sponsored,” or other label to video ads, geo-filters, advertiser lenses, and any other ad products or placements.

  • If you use a service, feature, or functionality that is operated by a third party and made available through our Services (including Services we jointly offer with the third party), each party’s terms will govern the respective party’s relationship with you.
  • Neither Health.co.za. nor its affiliates are responsible or liable for a third party’s terms or actions taken under the third party’s terms. We may share information related to ads with third parties, including: (a) our media partners when your ads run in content related to that media partner; and (b) third parties whose products or services you’ve elected to use in connection with the ads.

5. Privacy and the use of cookies

  • Healthcoza (Pty) Ltd does not permit the use of Cookies or other technologies to collect information which can either on its own or when combined with other information identify an individual.
  • Healthcoza (Pty) Ltd does allow the use of cookies to ‘profile’ the interests of a site visitor and to then use that profiling to make recommendations about content or services which might be relevant to the site visitor providing the data is completely anonymous and can never be linked to an individual person.
  • Healthcoza (Pty) Ltd does allow the use of cookies and other technology which maintains a simple count of the number of times the same advertisement has been shown to a visitor providing the data is completely anonymous, is not combined in any way with any other data, can never be linked to an individual person and is destroyed within one month.
  • Healthcoza (Pty) Ltd does allow the use of cookies and other devices to gather data to monitor web site traffic (such as with Google Analytics and other, ‘cookie based’ traffic monitoring tools).

6. Testimonials & Endorsements

  • Any testimonials and endorsements contained in ads or in Health.co.za account must comply with all applicable laws, industry codes, rules, and regulations. For example, a clear and conspicuous disclaimer is required if an endorser’s results were atypical or if the endorser was paid.
