Health Angels Causes is a segment of Health Angels Foundations where contributors can support organisations who provide special care and/or treatment..

These selected organisations provides healthcare on many levels to individuals who requires permanent special healthcare assistance & treatment or requires additional financial assistance for their medical condition. Some of these organisations lodge the most fragile children and adults who are in desperate need of our help.

Health Angels Foundations Causes is where we as members of the public contribute to a Thriving Community, bringing about change to those who need it most.

Little Eden

LITTLE EDEN caters for people with profound intellectual disability – those who are classified as uneducable – of all races and creeds. Priority is given to those who have been abandoned or abused, or who come from severely disadvantaged backgrounds. Once accepted into the LITTLE EDEN family, they remain with us for life.

LITTLE EDEN has two residential homes, providing 24-hour care for children and adults with profound intellectual disability – Domitilla and Danny Hyams Home in Edenglen, suitable for younger and more severely disabled children, and Elvira Rota Village, a farm in Bapsfontein ideally suited to those who are more mobile, older or higher functioning.

Teddy Bear Clinic

Our vision is that children will not be abused anymore, but where they are being abused, we want to provide efficient and professional services that effectively promote their healing and stop any further abuse. This translates into a mission to minimize any secondary harm to children and their families upon their entering the child protection system. Some of our Victim Support Services are:

Medico-legal Examinations: The Teddy Bear Foundation’s Medico-legal Clinic is a specialised medical facility for children who have been abused or neglected and a training service for medical professionals working in the child protection field. It is based within the Charlotte Maxexe Academic Hospital, and is run by a multi-disciplinary team of Paediatricians, Doctors, Forensic nurses, Social Workers and volunteers.

Therapeutic Counseling and Support: Child abuse causes trauma and emotional scars that can have a negative impact on a child’s development and result in long-term consequences. Every victim of child abuse and their family is provided with the opportunity to receive therapeutic counseling and support. This enables the child and family to assume a sense a mastery to cope with the trauma. Supportive counseling is also provided to the caregivers of children who have been abused, as our experience has been that the better equipped the caregivers are to cope with the trauma, the better able they are to support the child through the process.
